Cleaning up disk space for windows

Freeing up space is always an issue these days.

Running out of space on your Windows computer? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered! Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you free up some space and keep your system running smoothly.

Step 1: Use Disk Cleanup

Open Disk Cleanup:

  • Press Windows + S and type “Disk Cleanup”.
  • Select the Disk Cleanup app.

Select the Drive:

  • Choose the drive you want to clean up (usually C:) and click OK.

Select Files to Delete:

  • Check the boxes next to the types of files you want to delete.
  • Click OK and then Delete Files.

Step 2: Uninstall Unnecessary Programs

Open Control Panel:

  • Press Windows + S and type “Control Panel”.
  • Select the Control Panel app.

Uninstall a Program:

  • Go to Programs > Programs and Features.
  • Select the program you want to uninstall and click Uninstall.

Step 3: Use Storage Sense

Open Settings:

  • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  • Go to System > Storage.

Enable Storage Sense:

  • Toggle on Storage Sense.
  • Click Configure Storage Sense or run it now to customize settings.

Step 4: Delete Temporary Files

Open Settings:

  • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  • Go to System > Storage.

  • Click on Temporary files.
  • Select the files you want to delete and click Remove files.

Step 5: Move Files to External Storage

Connect External Storage:

  • Connect an external hard drive or USB drive to your computer.

Move Files:

  • Open File Explorer (Windows + E).
  • Drag and drop files to the external storage device.

Step 6: Use Cloud Storage

Set Up OneDrive:

  • Open OneDrive from the system tray or start menu.
  • Sign in with your Microsoft account.

Move Files to OneDrive:

  • Drag and drop files into the OneDrive folder in File Explorer.
  • Dont forget to tell One drive to keep the files OFFline
